What is it.
Both water pumps are off my 59A and when I look in the cavity I can see what looks like an electrode hanging down in the block. What would I be seeing.

If its the size of rebar tie-wire, it could have been holding a sand core in place when they poured the cast iron.
You guys are fast. By the time I wrote my sentence four others chimes in. We definitely need a photo, I'm really curious to see this thing. |

As stated, nothing more than un-trimmed wire that was used to fasten/stabilize
the components during the casting process. These are examples in an 8BA block.

That's a core wire. I found them when cleaning my block back in 1973.
Looks like a 1/8 welding rod with no flux. |
