Worth $100?
I'm thinking about buying this lot for $100 to clean up and sell some, and maybe use a few. Are the water pumps and generators worth rebuilding? Thanks.

Re: Worth $100?
Is the firewood included? Yes, the generators can be rebuilt. $100 isn't much of a risk for all that.

Re: Worth $100?
No firewood. I figure they "can" be rebuilt, the questions is "are they worth it" with all the re-manufactured stuff available. thanks again.

Re: Worth $100?
Fred,
Take a look at the gens...a 2 brush gen that has the pulley held in place with a skinny nut maybe a '39 or very early '40....these are rare indeed and that one item not rebuilt gets your Franklin back. Charlie ny |

Re: Worth $100?
I would think you wouldn't get hurt at 100. People will be buying the new water pumps with bearings and seals, you might sell a few pumps to concourse restorers but you should do OK on the generators if you are rebuilding them yourself. The ex manifolds, intakes, fans, clutch cores etc will easily get you over 100 back.

Re: Worth $100?
Heck ya, worth it. Itll take up some storage space though and some parts arent as desirable, but for a hundred dollars.
Do they have repro early waterpumps? I thought they werent available. ....Just checked online i guess they are available again, they were out of stock/unavailable about a year ago when i was looking. Last edited by Tinker; 01-29-2014 at 05:58 PM. |

Re: Worth $100?
Thanks guys, my wife thinks I'm crazy for buying the stuff, but I figure with a little elbow grease all this stuff is worth preserving.

Re: Worth $100?
Definitely worth it. Just the water pump cores have to be worth that.

Re: Worth $100?
Your first clue to buy it or not should have been when your wife said you were crazy for doing so. That would have been my reason..........back when I used to be married !?!?!?!?!?

Re: Worth $100?
I may be wrong, but those look like early bottom water outlets for 21 studders. If they are in good condition, they alone are worth the price of admission. Then you have the Fordbarn where you can sell virtually anything that we need. No can lose. Have several my wife thinks I am crazy stories until you hand her the cash you made on your investment. Then the tune changes.

Re: Worth $100?
nice wife, you definitly should keep her the oil filter usually brings $25-up, intakes depending on years $10- up, gens just the pulleys will bring your cash back, make up a list or put out, or better yet take better-close up pictures, advertise and take orders

Re: Worth $100?
Ya you done great at a that price, as they say, they arent making anymore. Strange how they always have a value at some point. I would hope the wife will understand even if its only the price of a night out. Enjoy.
