Default What Next? Air-Halk (Emergency Model A Tire Pump)

Some may have seen this ad on TV before; but just saw it.

Two payments of $29.95; battery operated and looks like a battery operated hand drill. Produces compressed air to inflate tires & other inflatable items.

Either call 1-800-667-4142 now; wait until the price go down, and/or continue using your hand pump and/or whatever.

I'll stick with my Schrader "Spark Plug Tire Inflater" Just screw it into the spark plug hole of your choice and start the engine.

A few early non-Ford cars had an air compressor on the side of the engine powered by the camshaft ..... just flip a lever with engine running & inflate tires.

Look closely at those air gun offers.I have been looking at one called the Air Dragon.I started looking around and found the basic one comes with a cord for the cigarette lighter. The battery is an additional purchase.I have air bags in my Dodge trucks and want one for just those. When I load the trailer I like about 30-40 pounds of air in them. What I don't like is to run the trailer empty to pick something up with the bags aired up.I have an aluminum flatbed and the truck beats me badly when running empty with air in the bags.I thought one of those pistol inflators would work fine. The bags are very low volume.

I buy the cigarette lighter socket air compressors at swap meets for 5 to 10 dollars and keep one in each car. They work fine.

I prefer the real compressor that Northern Hydraulics sells for about $80.00. Only works on 12 Volts, but will air up a tire in a couple of minutes. You have to connect it to the battery directly as draws too much current for the cigarette lighter. Don't have time to wait hours for the toy compressors to fill a tire.

Sears has a Lithium battery drill driver style air compressor I saw someone use at a Model A meet once. Not inexpensive, but a possibility.

As you can see many different options. I also like the Air Hawk. Easy to carry in your Model A. If we are older then easy on our body. Also great to inflate balls etc. The Air Hawk plus has the carrying case, battery charging cord and lighter adapter. Worth the money you pay. I am purchasing one for my son's.

I have a power outlet in my 6 volt Model A. I tried using my 12 volt air compressor in the power outlet, but it only had enough power using 6 volts to inflate a Model A tire to about 15 lbs.

Do you have a picture of the compressor you have? Or,a description? I've seen some different versions of these, always curious about them.I have one that hangs on the side of the motor on a hinge, and to use it you swing it in to ride on the back of the fan belt.

I've also wondered about that style.
Weren't they used on tractors and piped to the planter (seeder) being pulled?

The Air Hawk works very well. I got it cheaper on Dailydeals.com. I purchased the air Hawk pro an it comes with the rechargeable battery and also a carrying case. I have several fender mounted spare Model A's and most of us have to let some air out to place it in the fender well. When not using the Model A you can place it in your modern car. Several members of our Model A Club have one.

I have found the perfect pump.
It will work on 6 or 12 volt cars, + or - ground. Never needs charging or battery's, is always ready to use. Is simple to operate.

I carry a 12 volt plug in cigarette lighter pump in my modern car. One day I parked my 1929 Model A beside the modern car to inflates the Model A tires. Guess what? I could not fasten it to the metal stem valve as the flip connector to the valve required more space than the metal stem allowed between tube valve and center area of the wheel.. Good news it worked OK on my 1930 with metal stem valve as there was enough space so that the I inflated the 19" tires with no problem.
