Default 59A cam into 32-27 21 stud

Hey guys I have the following parts :

37 block
59A cam
3 bolt cover
helmet dist

Will the later cam marry up to the dist with the 3 bolt cover and helmet distributor?

I know the earlier cams were 3" longer or so but since the later cams are shorter with that mean I will need the adaptor with my parts combo ?

Thx !

With what you are describing here, you would need the button adaptor that allows the helmet distributor tang to engage with the 59 cam slot.

I am wondering whatever happened with this situation you were previously trying to make work?

I thought ford changed the valve angle and there was a difference in the cam timing between these years?

They changed the valve angle by moving the valves further away from the cylinders but did not change the cam timing till 1949.

The 59 style bolt on timing gear cam has been used as a replacement for the earlier, longer cams, that originally used the press on timing gear, for many years.

I figured Id need an adaptor for the distributor to allow for the shorter cam. Is this the correct one?

That looks to be a good one, but some being offered today will actually allow the distributor to bolt in place 180° out of correct position.

For the check-up on repro buttons, the detailed dimensions of the offset are in the shop manual and some kind person posted them on here for those without Canadian literature collections. I'll try to find and link...a bad button allowing incorrect assembly would ALSO be geometrically incorrect (OR very, very sloppy perhaps) when assembled in proper orientation, and so could do a lot of damage even if assembled in proper position.
