Default An inexpensive engine

This is an inexpensive good little street engine. Why I say inexpensive is when I stripped it I could see it was a low mileage 8BA with a 4in. crank and a EAB cam and .040 bore with very little ring ridge. SO, it would make a good little engine for a 40 coupe that the owner is making out of pieces of 2 cars. Cut the little ridge, honed the cyl, polished the .020-.020 crank, used EAB heads, and a Fenton super dual intake. The owner is going to get one of Babba,s Chevy dist. It runs super on the test stand. Walt

He's a lucky guy to have found that engine, and he's smart to have brought it to you.

Walt,
You saved that fellow a lot of $$. Good to find an engine full of nice surprises. Now get it off the test stand before the arm chair test stand police jump on you. LOL

Believe Walt is part of the test stand police and I'm sure he didn't run it on the test stand for an extended period of time!

Walt, you didn't say if you used new rings, perhaps that was understood?

Hello Walt,
Just asking how long do you normally run your rebuild engines on a Test stand.

Thanks

I've posted this before. It's all common since. Fire the engine, look at oil pressure, if engine is hitting all 8 cyl, speed it up to 16-1800, keep eye on oil pressure and water temp, run engine 15 min, jass the throttle now and then, bring it down to idle, ajust carbs, this shouldn't take long. The idea is don't let a new engine set and idle a long time. I probably don't run an engine on the stand more than 20min or so. Walt
