Jeweled Dash Light Covers
I've been looking at the Jeweled Dash Light Covers for the 28-early 30 dash lights, and there seems to be different choices in this aftermarket accessory. Some have only red, blue and green jewels, and some have amber as well. I assume there were multiple sources of period production, but is there a preferred setup? I know there are more recent reproductions, but I would like to find one that was period production. They are not listed in Those Wonderful Unauthorized Accessories.
I know there is no real reason to install one of these, but----- Thanks |

They cut down considerably on the light emitted to the dash! Wayne

Re: Jeweled Dash Light Covers
You can either buy a new one or keep an Eye out for an original, I have one that also has purple so there are many variations.

Re: Jeweled Dash Light Covers
They look purrrdy. But after having had an original on my '28 for about a month (until the novelty wore off) I found it to be more of a 'pain in the put' than the value of the novelty merited. It now sits proudly in my 'Unique A Parts' cabinet.

Here is an original. It has nickle plating. The jewels are red and green.

Post #5: "Doug, what was the pain?"
___________________________ Besides being more 'bulky' than the original, the risk of it 'walking off' was too great for me to want to chance. I should mention I drove (and continue to drive) my 1928 Touring Car - all things great and small have a greater tendency of 'getting lost' in an open car. The casual thief prefers 'purrdy' to ugly - "good-looking", over "adequately functional". |

Re: Jeweled Dash Light Covers
It's sad that even in this great hobby, filled with wonderful people, we have to deal with the reality of the society we are part of. I've only had an inexpensive item walk away through an open window. I have a friend going to Hershey, I hope he might find a decent one.

Re: Jeweled Dash Light Covers
Yes they can be replated without removing the jewels. This one was. The plating is nickle.
