Coker Excelsior Stahl Radial Tires
Good morning Fordbarners.... I'm looking for some feedback from anyone who has purchased a set of these tires and has put enough mileage on them to form a good opinion of there performance, appearance, cost, availability, etc., either pros or cons.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Coker Excelsior Stahl Radial Tires
I knew a guy that had them on a model A roadster hotrod. He did not like them. He though they were out of round. But that was 8 years ago. Things may have changed.

John....You might remember that Heard down on the east coast of Florida has the Stahls on his 3-window coupe and loves them. If he doesn't chime-in here, shoot him a PM. It's also a fact that Alan Johnson, the famous builder of high-dollar hot rods like the one below, uses brand new Stahl Excelsiors exclusively on his "top shelf" builds. DD

Re: Coker Excelsior Stahl Radial Tires
I have them on my deuce highboy roadster, 500/16 front and 750/16 rears and in the limited miles I have driven the roadster they work very good. I also have the same combination on my deuce highboy pu and I have driven it about 3000 miles since completion and the tires have performed great. Truck rides good and goes down the road straight. I have Vega cross steering on the roadster and 37 Hudson side steering on the pu. Both vehicles have steering dampers on them, not because they need them but because in my mind they smooth out the steering on a straight axle car.

Re: Coker Excelsior Stahl Radial Tires
I put them on the roadster three years ago. Usually put about 3000 miles on a season. They wear good, have good grip. I think they look great and have printed on them made in U.S.A.! I've had many comments just on that.
They're pricey, but I say worth it. I purchased a set through summit and were shipped free. They'd look great on that 4 door. |

Re: Coker Excelsior Stahl Radial Tires
I've had them on my 32 Cabriolet for the last 5 years - probably have 3000 miles or so on them. I really like them as they don't wander around like bias plys and have good traction. I've had them up to about 75 - 80 MPH - no problems in the least. They are expensive, but I think worth it. It is nice to be on a highway and not have to be 200% prepared for any little crack or bridge overpass - like I had too with bias plys . . . just a more pleasant driving experience.

Re: Coker Excelsior Stahl Radial Tires
A big thanks to all who responded!
I'm finally getting ready to purchase a set of these tires, and I've read all the previous threads on this subject found using the search function here. Thought it might be good to give this one more shot to get the latest update on how these tires are performing. All I need to do now is give a little more thought to size of front vs. rear, and away we go with an order....
