Re: is this a 35 radiator ?
I think Bluecar is correct - it's a '36
Looks close, but, my 35s have brackets 1/2 way down the side. I believe both tanks were available in '35. One of these is out of a '35 coupe, the other is NOS. Large tank was early 35. To the top of the rod mounts is 28 5/8" Across back at is 17 1/2" across front is 17" To the top of lower side bracket is 14" to the top of lower bracket is 14" It is 26" to the front corners. All measurements are from the floor. Last edited by Dick; 10-06-2011 at 11:09 AM. Reason: add pics and measurements |

Re: is this a 35 radiator ?
The radiator looks more like a '36.. I don't believe the '35's have that large upper tank...

Re: is this a 35 radiator ?
The early 35 large tank has the overflow on the drivers side not in the middle, the mid year small tank 35 has the overflow in the center but in the front of the radiator.

Re: is this a 35 radiator ?
Well, I tried to install in a 36 and it appeared to be about an inch or two too tall. Maybe my crossmember has been moved up?

Re: is this a 35 radiator ?
I have both early (large tank) and late (small tank) '35 passenger car radiators. These '35 radiators have the side brackets like the one in Dick's pictures. BigDaddy's pictures do look like they are '36. '36's had petcocks on the bottom of lower tank, '35's did not. Also the '36 frames had two sets of holes for mounting radiators. One set of holes are for passenger cars the other set of holes are for PU's. Maybe BigDaddy is using the wrong set of holes.

Re: is this a 35 radiator ?
OK guys,
i will try it again and see what gives. I will report back, hopefull with sheetmetal reattached. I am doing a little paint tune up before i hang it all back together. Trying to blend an unknown tint of black lacquer . We will see how this works out. Last edited by *BigDaddy*; 10-07-2011 at 08:25 AM. |
