Re: look at what i found
That's awesome. I've never seen a Canadian one before. What a great piece of history.

Beater,
Brings back memories of when Chief had a Conoco Gas station in Oklahoma, in the mid '40s. Bill Pumper

Re: look at what i found
That does look more artistic than the American ration stickers. My Seattle constructed coupe must have spent time in Canada because there were various bits of Canadiana debris from the 1940's behind the seat, including a mold-stained citation from the RCMP.

Re: look at what i found
I'm going to take it and see if I can get some repro ones made. if figured out it was from 44 the big white V for victory symbol is for the Normandy landing. prity neat is right. it was on an A closed car windshield that all the lamanant had gone dry except for the very top inch . I got a glass cutter and carfully cut/ broke it out. actually off to see a friend today that does this kind of reproduction work, so we will see

Re: look at what i found
Beater, nice find. Europe was involved in the war since the late '30s. The "V" for Victory sign was started way before Normandy and wasn't started by the US or the UK. The "V" sign was first proposed by the Belgian Minister of Justice in January of 1941, 11 months before Pearl Harbor. It gained so much popularity it was adopted by the Brit's and when the US entered the war in 1941 we started using it.

Re: look at what i found
right. well I'm learning, only know what I read online. Canada to was basically in it since 39 as we were part of the comomwealth.. it does look different than any other 44 dated sticker I can find. so maybe it is earlier than 44
I allways thought the V for victory or V for the second front was churchills thing starting that. |

Click the link to go to a website (not mine) that tells you how to make your own stickers.

Re: look at what i found
During the war years, my father may have issued that actual sticker. He was the head of the WAR Time Prices & Trade Board based in Calgary.

Re: look at what i found
With that Government stamp or Logo you might be out of luck unless you are able to do it yourself. It could fall into the same category as counterfeiting paper money that was printed in that era. Maybe the printer wont care or know any different. Use caution
