Default How hot is too hot

I know these flatty's like to run on warm/hot side. In traffic I see my temp hitting 190. Which I believe. Is ok. But at what point or temp should I say time to pull over and wait for cool down?

190 is great in traffic, as far as I'm concerned.

200-210 is getting real hot. Thing is, once you shut down it'll go up another 10 degrees without the pumps moving water.

Just my thoughts.

The manual says as long as it's not boiling.

Roughly...
Water boils @ 212
Antifreeze @ 265

265 degrees sounds a little high

Hi Everyone, Tinker, remember that 265 degree number includes a 15psi pressure cap. Unpressurized it's about 223. Add 3psi per one pound of pressure.

Ok so if I'm reading this right, at 210 I should pull over and open hood. Logic is 210 + 10 rise after shut off = 220 danger zone - as my cars are no pressure caps.

That right?

Start by checking your gauge to be correct. Use a thermal gun to verify the gauge and go from there. I have seen lots of gauges to read much higher than true Temp.

I just re-read that one again. It's a true classic on the subject.
