Thus you saved the aggravation of matching the body color to the fender and saved the cost of the paint. Most people were do it your selfers then.

You could buy fenders in any color from Ford, I have a NOS rear fender for my 1936 Panel that is in green with the part number stenciled on the inside.

Here are some pages from the 1935 Dealers book.

It's true! The Cooch's carpet matches the drapes, know what I'm sayin'? Can't tell in that photo, but under the three coats of house paint are in fact body colored front fenders. The trucks original color is only visible where the sun dont shine though. The model A rear fenders that were adapted are black under the brush job, but firewall, inner fenders and dash show the original paint in very good condition where it was out of the light. -Chris

Thanks for posting those pages, Dave D; I hadn't seen them before. Very pretty illustrations!

Here's a nice factory photo of a 35 pickup. Notice the contrast between the colored fenders/body and the black running board.

You're right, must be an old man's idea of flashy. Maybe will pass muster because it is a '34.

The '35 and '36 Ford pickups are just a great looking truck, no matter WHAT the color

It's a shame they do not reproduce the original Firestone tread pattern except on the 18 and 17" tires, even then it's a little off. The tires Don has on his panel delivery are the most authentic reproduction available IMO. Don do you have a photo of the tires on your panel?

Michael, Here are a few photos of my tires. They are Goodyear reproductions and were the closest I could find to original sidewall and tread.

Hi Everyone, Coopman, well... just... YES.

Actually it's in the Swap section. Suggested to me by JM. I look at occasionally, but, it just doesn't do it for me.

Maybe because I point this out it will find a home and I can stop thinking about it!

I guess what I really want to do, is fly to California, take a DNA sample from Brendan's truck while he's distracted on the internet at his kitchen table, and grow a clone in a petri dish! As long as it wouldn't take eighty years I'd be just fine with that! I used to say I'd steal it, but I just couldn't do that, well, for more than a few hours anyway.

Thanks to this thread, I think I will be painting my truck vineyard green! Fenders too. This has been a great thread, hope it keeps going.

the orignal owner painted it cloudmist gray.

Don: Those are the exact same tires I have on my truck. They ride very nice, and look great.

I know my grill is not painted correctly, but it ties the front end together nicely. The bead at the bottom of the grill is painted black, as are the fenders. The grill bars are also painted black. I just did not like the grill painted solid body color.
