Default 1928 truck radiator cap

I cannot get the radiator cap off the truck to check the antifreeze. It is unthreaded all the way, and appears loose, but it will not come off. What am I doing wrong here?

If it was unthreaded all the way it would be off the radiator.

Or maybe you've broken the solder joint between the threaded neck and the upper water box? You may be just turning and turning and turning?

Try looking below the cap and above the radiator shroud - you may catch a glimpse of the radiator fill neck.
