Default What I do on my "lunch hours"...

Just today finished another restoration. This one is a '40 Ford V8 Coupe. The project took approximately one year but I feel the results were worth the efforts. The body is of course ALL steel and the black paint is as deep and flat as humanly possible. This one is of course bone stock down to the last nut and bolt.
Just started on another '40 convertible. Getting older, this one may take a bit longer than one year.

Hi Kube, That sure looks nice, even has double sided whitewalls. My Dad had a thing for '40's, as you know. The black trim around the headlights is a very nice look. On second look I see an overdrive rear, a nice touch.

Mike, That is truly georgeous and a tribute to both Henry's 40 and your skill.
Well done, to say the very least. I love it.

Gorgeous as usual. The reflections visible in the paint on the gas tank (and Columbia!) are pretty impressive.

A few years ago Mike was doing a 39 wagon. He happened to be hosting a party a few days after the frame was painted. Well, we excused ourselves from the party and went to his shop for a look see. That bare frame was so damn impressive that I felt an inspiration. This video is the result-

Enjoy, (hope the link works).

Kube,Your the best in the business. Correct in every way. What would the 40 go for at a auction versus selling outright to a private collector? Henry would be proud of the results that you put into that car. Beautiful! Ken

Bringing it to my other shop (close by) to do the final detailing.

Thanks Ken, I won't speculate publicly what the value of this one might be. Auctions, as you well know, are solely dependent upon who's there that day and how bad it is desired.
I have always been satisfied with my experiences at auction. One time in particular, floored (in a good way).

Mike, here's a wet towel for you: A Standard (I know, Ford V8) with every accessory known to mankind? How about that! And if that's not enough, it even comes with highly polished undercarriage!

Good job, Mike. Another AACA winner!

Kube, a really nice job on the restoration. Maybe you will bring this to Gettysberg next June so we can see it close up in person.

Itstom, there is no need to fan the fire between these guys. It is also against the owner of this forums rules.

Thanks for the kind words.
It'll be at the Springfield show for certain.

On a more relevant topic, Kube does not chrome his own bumpers or have a machine shop in his basement. By his own admission he utilizes some outside services. But you make it sound like he just slaps the parts together and, hell, anyone can do that.

What makes these cars so special isn’t who rebuilt the fuel pump (would you want a 70 year old NOS pump in your car?) but the incredible attention to detail given them. Whether it’s installing wiring or an interior or the hog rings under a seat no one will ever see, everything is… well… perfect.

I have had the pleasure to see this car in person. The level of fit and finish is simply amazing. I’ve talked to Mike after he’s spent a full day getting a door gap perfect, or a bit of trim to lay just right. Believe me; the man does a huge amount of the work himself. And none of it while jaw jacking with his buddies and eating pizza.
Wow, another country heard from. You obviously read my reply to Kube before it was deleted but, did you read my first post in this thread? I complemented Kube on a nice job and thanked him for imitating my thread by using a similar title, imagine that. As I have often said, I enjoy looking at over restored cars just as much as anyone and I can certainly appreciate the amount of time and dedication it takes. Once again, I did not draw the sward from the scabbard, I merely responded in kind, sands the vulgarity. Apparently, most of the people on the FordBarn enjoy our Flathead antics as I relate them. You’ll note that seldom, if ever, do I place myself in the center of attention or take all the credit for whatever we are working on, that would be narcissism. Like anyone, you have the option to pass by my (or anyone else’s) threads if you don't want to read them. I see nothing wrong with spending time with friends who enjoy "jaw jacking" and eating PIZZA while having fun playing with Flatheads. To me that is one of the most enjoyable facets of this hobby, participating on the FordBarn being another. Hope you have a nice weekend, I know we will.
