Wrong Nails?
I'm having a very difficult time nailing the sheet metal onto new wood. I'm using 3d 1 1/8" nails and am bending 6 or 7 nails for every one I am able to get in straight. Is there a better nail?

Re: Wrong Nails?
See if you can find 'body nails'. They are about 1 inch long and are corrugated. About the diameter of a small finishing nail.

Mac's sells nails made for the job;
http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_mo...ody-nails.html You may still have to drill pilot holes if you are dealing with dry oak.

Re: Wrong Nails?
I used lath nails in Oak. Drilling holes was necessary. Holding the nails with pliers part way in helped. Yes there are better nails but these were cheap and so am I. Hope you find a good solution. The Tudor is looking good.

Bronze boat nails. They are ringed and won't ever rust and are tough.
Get at any hardware, or Wallymart. |
