Outer world dwellers post your creations here
So i notice many people within the USA buy T parts at one of several large swapmeets. Outside the USA parts can be scarce so i will post some pictures of how people do things.
Feel free to post pictures of parts you have made for your own cars and include descriptions if the method of repair/manufacture is not readily apparent in the photographs. First up is this hand beaten lamp. Real glass and chimney was used but the bottom of a clear white wine bottle could be used if Fresnel lenses were not available. Windshield post made from steel tube and sheet metal While the frame was made by bending tubing in the fork of a tree and cutting a slice in it for the glass to sit. The glass was commercially made. Like so. Toe board riser thing, you can make this with a hammer and some pliers. Hood shelf made from sheet metal and hood hook made from rusty nails. If your door looks like this (AKA rusty until it falls literally in half) Sheet metal and pliers, a vice (the kind mounted to benches) or even 2 planks of wood and some screws can help you fold some inner door skins. Note this one has rod and bar being installed from reinforcement. Outer skin being installed and hinges under construction. You can make whole body tubs that way Note the cowl is store bought. If you beat the sheet metal with a hammer over a tree stump long enough you can make a turtledeck too. These normally cost hundreds of dollars at swapmeets but this one only cost time and about $60 in bits and pieces of metal. http:Link to really ugly before completion picture of turtle deck Hinges are nothing to get too hung up on finding if you have a drill and some offcuts of steel & are willing to settle for something less than original. Seat frames, fit in the original hole and work almost as well, except they don't have springs.. Cover it with leather and you'd never know it wasn't factory. This leather is used BTW, fist used by a cow, then used as a couch until they bought a new couch. But you can buy new leather if you do a high dollar restoration.

My whole wiring loom is made from old extension cords and wire from car wrecks I found in the bush, and the floor in my car is the side of an air conditioning unit
That banjo wheel had the rim rusted of it and I hand bent a new one from a peace of pipe I found wile out rat hunting, the gods sent me all this plywood after a big wind and I used it for the floor and pick up bed. |
