Default Drivers window won't stay up.

'Evening Gents. Strange thing... Rolled up the drivers side window on my 30 Fordor and it went back down. Still on the track and all, Rolls up and down easily, just won't stay up? I'm not familiar with Model A window regulators. What do you suppose could be the problem? Broken spring or ?? Would like to have any parts needed in hand before taking the door apart.

I would say a broken spring on the regulator.

You should have a fairly heavy spring to counter the weight of the window, and the regulator should have a small spring under the cover that locks the handle in place.

the guys are right, there is a spring in the regulator that is wound up as you roll the window down, this helps to raise the window and hold it up, get a catalog from sacramento vintage ford in calif, one of the best illustrated catalogs out there , it shows the regulator and the spring

I also vote for a broken spring, had the same issue when one on my Tudor broke. The coil spring is rather large and strong, but not that hard to replace.

This the spring y'all are referring too?

Looks like an easy fix. Thanks to all that responded.

Yes, that's the spring to counter the weight of the window. If your's is OK, then you'll need to replace the small locking spring under the cover on the window handle shaft in the regulator.

If that is not broken it could be the winder spring, inside the cup is worn too

All good info. Really appreciate it. I'm new to Model A's so learning curve is steep!! Writing all info down in a notebook.
