Default Main bearing blowup and fasteners

I guess the broken bolts came out east. Here is a picture of a bolt that came out of an 8ba I'm doing vs the ones that broke. No testament as to what happened but wonder if Ford used different bolts.

Ford had two types of main bearing bolts the short shouldered type and the full length shoulder type. Having taken a lots of latter blocks apart its not something that sticks in your head which type was in which block was it 8-BA or the 1-BA makes you wonder. Also a prior rebuild could add to the mystery of what bolt came in what block.

Don't use split "lock" washers, as they provide zero locking function and can adversely affect bolt tension.

Those "new" bolts also look like standard hardware store fasteners, not the appropriate shouldered type as noted.
