engine hardware
Hello:
Was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what size bolts are used to hold the oil pan to the engine bottom, head thickness not a concern, on my 1937 85hp. thank you RICHARD |

Hi Richard. This doesn't really answer your question, but the supplier www.fordbolts.com, Roy Nacewicz has them in his catalog.

Re: engine hardware
Good info Lawrie. I was too warm and cozy on the sofa, when I first read this post, to get up and go out in the garage to check an oil pan bolt on a 36 engine I have on a stand. I knew the hex head took a 1/2" socket and the threads are course, but couldn't recall the length. I must have a few hundred of those in my highly organized Ford hardware collection (several 5 gal. buckets stacked in a corner of the garage)
So, if you have a problem finding some Richard, let me know, and I'll send some to you.

Re: engine hardware
Given you are not concerned about head thickness, 5/16-18 x 3/4 hex head bolt is a very common fastener, especially if zinc plating is also acceptable. I would not be surprised if they were at your nearest hardware store that carries a line fasteners. No doubt they are also readily available via the internet.
