Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
What parts would differenate a Standard Tudor Sedan from a Deluxe Tudor Sedan in 1930, if there were such a thing?
I can maybe think of two (Cowl lights and a inside dome light)...any others? What would a possible part number be for the inside dome light? Thanks. Pluck |

Re: Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
In addition to above, the driver's seat was about 3 inches wider on the 1931 Deluxe Tudor.
Most of the 30+ differences between 1930 ?? and 1931 deluxe tudors were minor and also found on non deluxe tudors as well as on most 1931 body styles. Ray |

Re: Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
There were no "Deluxe" tudor sedans in 1930. The deluxe tudor was not introduced until mid to late 1931.

Pull straps on the door pillars behind the front seats, at least on the passenger side. Dome light. Upgraded upholstery material, such as mohair. I believe the dash rail and window garnish mouldings were woodgrained, too. The interior appointments were basically the same as a Town Sedan or Deluxe Fordor = the works.

Re: Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
The dash on a standard tudor was not striped. Indented firewall could show up on either. The indented firewall came out before the introduction of the deluxe tudor. The Restoration Guidelines also have black wheels for standard and colored wheels for a deluxe. Not sure if someone mentioned cowl lights. Carpet floors deluxe and a rubber mat for standard.

Re: Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
All of the above answers refer to the late 1931 Tudor, except the answer of lindy Williams, which Ford introduced as an idea for sluggish sales. There was never a 1930 Deluxe Tudor produced from Ford, but there are sure quite a few which have been modified and on the road with the '31 Deluxe features...

Re: Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
Lindy Williams...Unless the Ford Motor Company was issuing false data, then you (and Jim) might be wrong about Deluxe Tudors in 1930.
Also, the Indented firewall did not come out on Model A/AA Fords until May of 1931...so that one is out. According to the Ford Motor Company's MONTHLY Assembly Record Type documents, Ford started to issue the "Deluxe" models starting in March of 1930 with the Deluxe Coupe and the Deluxe Fordor followed by the Deluxe Phaeton in June of 1930. Then in September of 1930, Ford comes out with 4 Deluxe Tudors; in October of 1930 167 Deluxe Tudors; In November of 1930 112 Deluxe Tudors; and in December of 1930 81 Deluxe Tudors for a total of 364 Deluxe Tudors for 1930...In January of 1931 11 Deluxe Tudors. Then the production stopped until June of 1931 with full production for the rest of the year. All of the 1930 Deluxe Tudors were assembled in Dearborn and not at any other Ford assembly plant. So with this information...several questions arise...Just what were these 1930 Deluxe Tudors all about? How did they differ from the 1930 Standard Tudor? With this very small production run of 364 in 1930 (of which also shows up on the YEARLY Asembly Record Type document) plus the 11 in January of 1931 before Ford halted production for a few months...this body style must be few and far between if in fact Ford ever put it out to the customer. I just can not amigane Ford "scrapping" 364 Deluxe Tudors...but then again...what do I know? This body style would be mid to late 1930 only and it sure would be nice to find one to document the particulars of this car. Thanks guys. Re: Standard vs. Deluxe 1930 Tudor Sedans
According to noted Model A authorities . . . ALL Ford 1931 "DELUXE" Tudor Sedans had the indented firewall with engine compartment fuel shut off valve.
The 31' Tudor with indented firewall that we have is a high serial number - A482xxxx that left the factory in late 1931 or maybe early 1932 as a DELUXE edition car. The original adjustable driver's seat assembly now sitting on a table in the garage is noticeably wider than a regular Tudor sedan front seat. Somebody said that it was much the same unit as used in both Victoria bustle back sedan and A-400 models. To knowledge, cowl lights and other dealer option goodies could be added as desired. However, there doesn't look to have been a designated or advertised "Deluxe" model Tudor Ford sedans offered for year 1930. re: Model A Ford Club of America Deluxe Tudor Sedan Quote:
