Default Federal Mogal Heads - No Water Pumps Needed

This thread shows he use of Federal Mogel copper/brass heads and
mentions Thermo Flow cooling. Do these heads dissipate enough heat
rapidly enough to not require the use of water pumps?

They probably worked to some degree of satisfaction but not good enough to become standard practice.
Looks like they dissipate heat to the water jacket as well as air flow. Also notice the location of the spark plugs (directly over the exhaust valves)

I've only seen them in 3 styles.
32-36. They have water pump flanges, and water jackets, and a 2-piece design.
37, early 38, 21 stud. Those engines have water pumps in the block. The heads have no water jackets, but use water manifolds (usually missing) to carry water to the radiator.
I did see a set of raw castings for a pair 24 stud ones at the Portland Swap Meet about 40 years ago, and of course those engines also use water pumps. The 24 stud ones didn't have water, and were like the 37 style, except for the number of stud holes.

The 32-36 heads are 2-piece and have water jackets.
