In our small town I would go to Ace Hardware since they have a good variety of stuff.

By 1946 I assume that they would have been some variation of a Tinnerman nut made of spring steel which you can find on the internet in an almost endless variety of types and sizes.

Ace Hardware or your local automotive paint store. Automotive paint stores usually carry a variety or can order them for you.

Any decent hardware store has a huge assortment of these in numerous sizes. I'd suggest you bring your emblem(s) with so as to remove any guess work on what size(s) you require.
