Seat upholstery for 28 phaeton
Recovering the seats to original spec is on this year's list...
Jim Schild's book says "single seam running laterally approx 1/3 of the the way back from the front of the seat" 1) Is this what the rear seat should be like too? 2) Did the back rests have any seams? Could someone post a pic of correct style front and back seats so I know where piping and seams go etc. Many thanks in advance |

Re: Seat upholstery for 28 phaeton
I have pictures of Dave Lopes Henry awarded 28 phaeton. I am posting some of the pictures below. Marco did the excellent upholstery of the seat cushions, seat backs and the rest of the upholstery on the car.

Re: Seat upholstery for 28 phaeton
If the fordoors are any standard to consider, the material is pulled down with the material looped down into the springs and with a steel rod through the loop. The rod is tied to the spring assembly keeping the crease straight and even.

Re: Seat upholstery for 28 phaeton
Thanks for excellent pics. I notice that the front-seat backrest has a piped central seam along the top of it .....Is the rear-seat backrest the same?

Re: Seat upholstery for 28 phaeton
Sure. The pictures, like I mentioned in my initial post, I got from Marco T's. website. They are of Dave Lopes award winning 28 phaeton. Marco did the upholstery job and did an excellent job. I don't think he would mind if I post a few pictures of Dave's car. The first 2 pictures I took at French Lick at the 2010 MARC meet.
