Shop heat anyone have pics?

I use a Mr. Heater in my 24x24 house garage. Hangs from the ceiling n/gas and is very effective and economical. Insulation is a big part of the game. In my 30x50 steel building which I don't use as much during the winter, I use a thermostatically controlled 175,000 BTU torpedo type heater. I got this at northern tool. It will keep that big building very comfortable for about 8 to ten hours on one tank of fuel, even in the bitter part of winter. Keep my toy in the house garage and use the big garage for everything else.

Fuel is propane, I have overhead heat that works and in floor heat not yet hooked up. Boiler is in the basement and must be a roundtuit model. Might install now that I saw Ronnie's picture.

It is real simple to do I did mine in a couple of days,and it was up and running.

10k boiler expansion tank circulation pump that's about it.Stays at 60 deg no matter what the outside temp is.2x6 Walls r20,ceiling 13ft r40,shop is 28'x38'

Look past the mess, it's a 45000 btu Ruud mid efficiency. Helps that I am a heating guy.

i think the real key is the 2x6 construction and all the energy star windows, door and garage door. the roof has trusses and huge amounts of insulation up there....this is the tightest garage i have ever owned. i had it built specifically as a shop and we insulated the crap out of it. my rates are about 11cents KW

I have the nearly identical set up as Randy/IN, same Mfg, mine vents vertically and heats a 42 X 24 foot space with two garage double doors. There is no foot print on the floor so it takes no space from my storage. It is about 1-1/2" from the ceiling. 85,000BTU and efficiency is high. Got the heather new on line. No cutting wood no muss or fuss, and nothing hot to the touch.

Sorry, I don't have any pics, but my shop (30'x30'x12' ceiling) had a 80k electric furnace in it when I bought the house 20 years ago. It is open at the top and I ran a duck from the top to the floor to have the heat blow out horizontily instead of vertically. I was always going to change it over to gas, but never got around to it. I did install a 3-way switch in the house, so I can turn it on and get it nice & warm before heading out there.......the older I get, the more I hate the cold!

My shop is 26 x 32 feet. 2x4 walls with R12 fiberglass. Attic has R20 fiberglass. In the winter minus 30something is common. I use a Johnson 7700 wood burner. They were popular in the seventies/eighties. It heats my shop no problem. Firewood is cheap(free) where I live. AND, my insurance company gave it the thumbs up.....

I went to Home Depot, bought a Williams in the wall gas heater, 8 yrs ago, i/ve been very happy with it, keeps my 30x40 shop toasty warm.

think I am going to have to insulate....don't want to use fiberglass insulation because the critters like to hide out in the shop.....maybe a spray-on to seal the roof where rafters and end blocks come together.....

I'm in San Jose, CA, don't need any heat in the detached garage, when I'm working long sleeves are enough. When I'm in my office in an enclosed part of the garage, not working on anything other than the computer, a $19.00 electric heater on my feet is all I need.

no pics, but am using a propane overhead radient tube heater. unit is 135000 btu. my shop is 36x36. dont use the shop all the time, so i leave the thermostat set at about 40 degrees. this unit will bring the temp up to 60 degrees in a few minutes. found the system at a building demolition yard. paid $300 including a couple of spare units etc. great system and very economical.

Garage is 30' x 45' and temperature is controlled by a 3-ton heat pump and two ceiling fans. I keep it comfortable year-round.

i have a 30 by 34 shop 16 foot ceiling with the hydronic hot water plastic pex pipe layed in the floor when cement was poured and it is great i love it, great place to work on the cars here in the cold oregon winters--i would highly recomend this way to heat your shop.
