Rebuilding 8ba bearings gaskets etc needed
Looking for std size bearings for an 8ba. Also copper or a good gasket set for 3.25” bore. And studs etc... speedway and van pelts seems to have what I’m after, but are there any vendors here that supply and tend to these engines specifically. Just thiught I’de ask before I spend money elsewhere. Thanks guys

VanPelt is "here", but there are other suppliers who are regulars on the Barn.

Re: Rebuilding 8ba bearings gaskets etc needed
I got most of my stuff from Soeedway Motors. King bearings and their "big bore" head gaskets. Happy with the quality and prices. I also installed a set of their 4 ring pistons (without the bottom ring) and they seem fine as well. (I have so many partial gaskets sets leftover that I may never have to buy another gasket set again! That's probably a good thing, seeing what they are getting for them these days.)

3 1/4" bore is .060" oversize on an 8BA. A stock size head gasket can be used.
Not copper but IMO a very good gasket is Felpro. A full set is about $60.00 at Autozone. |

Re: Rebuilding 8ba bearings gaskets etc needed
Just don't buy the Speedway Brand GraphTite 'clone' gasket set -- they have a really crappy 49-53 set where they semi-copy what BEST Gaskets makes . . . and it is a far inferior product. I sent one back last year - with a lot of notes for all the things that were flat out wrong. Speedway does carry Best Gaskets for some sets - just make sure they are the TRUE product - and not the knockoff ones.
For your piston diameter, you can probably just go with a good Felpro set (as noted above) - or checkout the Best Gasket website - their GraphTite complete set is very good. http://www.bestgasket.com/pop_up_pic...tNumber=RS521G Here is a document of the issues found: Speedway-Gasket-Issues.pdf |

Re: Rebuilding 8ba bearings gaskets etc needed
Got most of the parts to rebuild my 8ba from Red's Headers because he was within driving distance to pick up the parts but also because he sold quality parts, knew what he was talking about, and his prices were fair IMO.
