Jeff, I'd say the 2 week window is about right. The old timers wisdom is spot on. About a month ago a friend died un-expectedly. I setup a facebook memorial page for him and it was incredibly active. As the days after the funeral passed, the activity dwindled. Two weeks to the day of his passing, the last post went up and it's been quiet since.

The old timer was spot on.

As Hershey approaches I cannot help but to remember people I went with that are no longer with us. We may not think of them as often but we think of them. A friend of mine died quite a few years ago. He had given me a little model motorcycle because it resembled one I just bought. It is a rather cheap model but sits on the kitchen windowsill and I remember him when I look at it.

I agree that 2 weeks is the normal period of mourning by your casual friends. In my case my closest friend of 35 years who got me into Model A's died unexpectedly 2 years ago. He went with me on my first Model A purchase and said he thought I could handle the extensive restoration it needed. He bored the block so I could do the rest of the motor rebuild and advised me almost nightly when I called with problems on it.I am doing this resto in his memory. When I finally drive it out of my garage it will be a proud but somber moment thinking that he's not here to see it.
