Battery Charging Experts -
All of my batteries are the old style flooded type. When i use my Schumacher 6/12 volt charger, the meter on it indicates the charging amps when I plug it in. As the battery nears full charge, the needle goes toward 0, at which time my maintainer will indicate full charge. I recently bought a new 6-volt battery and after a day and a half of charging the needle will go no lower than 4 amps and when i plug in the maintainer, it indicates full charge. Normally this situation does not occur until the battery is old and almost ready to go. Is my new battery defective, or am I missing something?
Thank You |

Do you have a hydrometer? Might check the specific gravity of each cell. Sometimes the old ways are the most reliable.

You may need to have it checked with a hydrometer or take it for a stress test. If your meter goes to zero on other batteries I think you have a legitimate question.

Hi Everyone. Somebody may be asking how do I use a hydrometer to test the density of the electrolyte. Here's a link: https://deepcyclebatterystore.com/us...ry-hydrometer/
I didn't shop too hard, but here's one for $10 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/E-Z-Red-SP101...SIN=B000JFHMRU
