Hi flatties I'm in a pinch for a good used camshaft for a 47 59ab.
Stock or mild grind .
Price is no object- it has to be cheep. Just kidding. PM or email works.

Should post this in the wanted area on the swap meet section here. Also your location helps if someone nearby has one. Last, Welcome to Fordbarn!! , see this was your first post.

If you are wanting advice on what type of cam, I've found that the stock cam provides good service.

The Isky 77B is not cost effective over a stock cam

If it came in an 81 series block that needed sleeves (included with the block) it will be used. New rings, floaters check out in tolerance, it’s going back together.
I agree it will not be any better than a stocker.

Any ideas where I might find a good used cam ? It's just for a old dirt racer
that's just a put-put display car.

For your use, you might what a cam with some duration to give it a good sound. Should be some used mild race cams out there. But the sound is the thing on this type of application IMHO!

At one time, just tossing a cam in was not all thar expensive. Today is a 500 dollar expense regardless of the type of cam, so, it requires more thought. Thats why I used an EAB cam and rotators in my truck. Somebody should make a cam lik it with more lift, duration is just fine.

Ron, Doesn't Tilton (the people that have the comprehensive cam comparison chart) make something called a "8CM Plus" (or something like that) that is an enhanced version?

Right ,I get it. The old engine had a Isky 400 in it but it's really hammered.
Do not think it is a regrind candidate . A few of the lobes have flat noses.
Some of the springs were dead too. The old girl was run hard and put up wet.

The 77B is not a bad cam, in fact it a little better than the stock EAB or EAC cam. Unfortunately, I don't think it's worth the added expense to buy a new one. Isky makes some great cams and if you want a nice street cam with a nice sound and good performance, try the 1007B, It's a short track cam, ut runs well on the street with 50 lbs of spring pressure. Pete makes them

Flathead fool is looking for a used cam for very limited usage in dirt track car. Mainly to just set around as a demo car. Normally using a used cam is not a good idea, but in this application I don't really see much of an issue. Pete is one of the cam experts the is here on the Barn, but not everyday. Might PM him a message and see what he has to say. Be sure you explain the usage in detail. Just use the search function advanced and enter user name Pete. There is also an email link.
