I found a viton tipped float needle for these carbs. Renner's Corner only has the gross style float valve.
If you prefer a needle type of float valve. Steiner Tractor parts has a complete kit that includes the viton tipped needle, a brass thread in seat and a spring used to prevent the needle from sticking to the seat.
Their P/n is ABC133 and costs $6.15.

I installed this part in the Marvel Carbs on both of my A's and they work great.

For you Tilly fans, this needle looks like a Tilly float needle and may work in those carbs as well, the seat won't however.

I'll have to see if I can get one sent over. Some US companies (and individuals) won't deal with "foreigners". Little do they realise that we are dealing with a foreigner - them. I've experienced this on more than one occasion.

Yup, a US supplier has struck again. I can't create an account at Steiner Tractor because their site won't recognise my phone number which has more digits than a US one by the time I put in the country code and without it, there is still the wrong number of digits. A phone number is a required field so I'm stuck. The same thing happened when Snyders went to their new website. I never was able to get onto it - don't know if they have fixed it because I haven't even tried since. Another customer lost to them and probably MANY other international buyers.
Very frustrating and not very customer friendly.

My sister, who lives in Honduras, just fills in the phone info with: 999-999-9999. Works most of the time.

Most of you will have seen complaints on this forum about shipping costs from the US. For a $6.15 item, Steiner wants $46.50 to send it USPS. They have to be kidding.

Anybody have a suggestion on how I can do this??

Check out USPS first class rates to your address as well as flat rate, and then make a friend here in the states. Won't cost you $46.50 and you'll have a new friend.

Steiner doesn't happen to sell floats for the Marvel, do they?

Steiner is a tractor supply store and many tractors in the 40's and 50's used marvel carbs. The marvel parts that Steiner carries are for tractor carbs and they are a different carb completely. This float seat is probably about the only part that would be interchangeable.

Ron is correct. The marvel carbs used on tractors look totally different from the one used on our Model A's. go to the website and look at some of the Marvel carbs.
For other Marvel parts, your best bet is Renner's Corner, look on their website.
Both companies are located in Mich, as Ron is.
Renner's corner sells the float.

If you need a new float because your existing one leaks, try dunking it in tank sealer. I did that about 15 years ago for a friend and it's still going.

Get them to try USPS (United States Postal Service) usually lots cheaper than either Fed X or UPS and it will be delivered right to your door. We always request things sent to us by the postal office.

With a "re-manufactured" Marvel Schebler carburetor installed on this 31' Ford Tudor, as it stands, it's absolutely the best running Model A car ever owned. At least with me, it's a situation of . . . "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I received my Marvel carb needle & seat yesterday. There were three little candy bars included!! With recent vendor troubles being posted here's a little positivity. Thumbs up to Steiner Tractor.

Following up, my steel float needle started leaking so I installed the needle & seat from Steiner Tractor. It wasn't that straightforward though. Since the needle & seat are a set I had to destroy the old seat to install the new one. The new needle is considerably lighter than the original and came with a small retainer that clips to the float. Without his clip the Viton tip sticks closed. I couldn't use the retainer with the old float. It took awhile but I made another one out of small diameter SS safety wire. Also had to solder a small piece of brass to the float arm to attach my new clip. Sounds worse than it was.
I had been running a Tilly for a couple of weeks and the difference between it and my Marvel is noticeable. Happy to be running the Marvel Schebler again.
