33/34 Cabriolet Question.
Can someone help with what is the color used on the steel top bow, front header face plate that goes against top of frame above windscreen and the steel panels around the quarter pillar wood that is riveted to the hood irons on a 1933/34 cabriolet.
Thanks Graham Freeman |

Re: 33/34 Cabriolet Question.
The pretentious name of the original color was golden beryl. It was tan tending toward ochre. I don't have a photo of it in a '33-'34 cabriolet, but it was carried over from '32 and shown in the photos below in a cabriolet, convertible sedan, and phaeton.

Re: 33/34 Cabriolet Question.
Thanks for the photos Dave.
In all 3 photos however there appears to be a large variation in the colors. On pages 7-43 & 7-45 of the 33-34 restoration book there are photos which show a more cream color, could this be close to correct or maybe it was a repaint? When pulling my cabriolet down many years ago there was a very small sample of paint that I had machine matched and it appears after spraying a sample to be very close to the 32 Cabriolet above and I am wondering whether to stick with what I have. What do you think? Graham Freeman. |

Re: 33/34 Cabriolet Question.
Graham,
The variations in the three photos is primarily lighting. In the first one, that photo is just ambient lighting while the other two were taken with a flash assist. In the last two, I guarantee you that the color of the inside of the top material in both instances is identical, which they are not in the photos. I'd go with what you have if it is based on an original sample, no matter how small the sample. |
