Sorry I didn’t catch names, I was totally blown out of the water! Monday morning last following up on a lead for a gear for my windshield roll out regulator I called Chevi-Shop. I got the answering machine which was kinda garbled but left a message anyway even though I was not sure I got the right place. So no call back and I wasn’t too confident I would get one.

Tuesday the phone rings, I didn’t recognize the number, I picked it up expecting silence followed by a vehicle warranty pitch. I said “Hello”.
“Is this Jim?”
“Yes.”
“Hi, this is (???) you called my dad’s shop looking for a gear?”
“Yes I did, for the windshield regulator on my ‘39 Ford”
“He’s in the hospital, they just did a heart bypass and he asked me to check the answering machine and answer the calls if I could. I didn’t know what you were looking for so when I saw him I asked and he said he thought he did. If I find it I’ll call back and make arrangements to send it out”

I was flabbergasted! This guy is recovering from a life threatening operation and he’s worried about taking care of a customer. Not a regular, not an occasional, not somebody ready to spend big money. No a stranger looking for a two bit part.

I still haven’t figured this out, I have never been on the receiving end of this concern for a customer.

I bought one from him Several years ago and it works great .he makes these gears .I think .its seems funny getting some minute part for your Ford from the Chevy Shop

What did you use for the rivets in the housing and to attach the gear?

That is an amazing story of both the father and the son. I hope he has a full recovery from the surgery.
