Default Nuts! Head nuts.... Acorn? Stainless?

I have been looking for stainless steel acorn nuts to fit the head studs but all I find are fake covers that go over the original nuts.

Does anyone sell proper acorn nuts in stainless for the flatheads head studs?
Or in chromed brass?

I have spent some time looking with no luck.....

I guess I could make them if I really wanted too....

I think Flathead Jack did. They are/were pricey!

Looks like Red's may have them: http://reds-headers.com/html/fh_parts.html

"General" commercial available SS will not withstand the torque values needed for flathead torques.....I have some 304SS 7-16-20 NF SS Acorn nuts (Maybe 40psi max torque) but have not and will not use them on a Flathead. With that said there "MAY BE" a company offering a "hardened" SS Acorn nut (like ARP) not sure BUT if so they will not be cheap and unless the seller can provide me with certs or mill test reports I would not trust them!!!!

NOTE: The above mentioned McMaster Carr items are the same as I have and IMO I would not recommend. Max torque value is 36ft/lb dry & 27ft/lb lubed. They are the standard commercial variety!!!

"Could"......is another word "possibly". Its a you're gamble with you're motor. Factoring in the head cycles and the "recommended" values I'm not that big of a gambler!!! Just my .02 worth!!!

I would check with Red's and see what the torque values are for the ones they have.

According to the Red's page, theirs are "Chrome plated" which would indicate to me that they are a steel nut that is chrome plated?????, I see no mention of SS. I'm with JSeery, I would see what Red's charges for theirs IMO???

I'm with 19Fordy, go with the chrome plated covers and save yourself $$ and grief!! Torquing the heads is somewhat important....think I read this somewhere!

No fake nut covers for me. That just seems wrong.

I'm running covers on my 8ba that I got from Patrick's (before he went sideways). Used a bit of silicon to make sure they stayed on. No issues and IMO they don't look like covers.

My local hardware store carries the covers, a dab of silicone and they have been on for 3 years with no problems.
