On a 1/2 ton pickup, yes. On a car, no.

Lincoln and Mercury cars were the last cars to switch. Ford cars switched in 1949. Half ton pickups held out for a very long time.

You may have a Mercury wheel. Theirs was somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-1/2" B.C. while Fords had a 4-1/2" B.C.

As Daves55sedan mentioned, you may have a Mercury wheel. My all stock survivor '51 Merc. has 15 on 5 x51/2 wheels .

I'm pretty sure all the Mercury cars from 1949 thru '56 had the same 15" wheels with 5-1/2" B.C. And Fords from 1949 thru '56 all had the same 15" wheels with 4-1/2" B.C. Then in 1957 they went to 14" wheels. Ford still kept the 4-1/2" B.C. thru at least '59.

The Mercury cars, '49-'52 had the 15" 5 lug x 5.5" bolt pattern.
The Mercury cars, '53-'54 had the 15" 5 lug x 4.5" bolt pattern.
The Mercury cars, '55-'56 had the 15" 5 lug x 5.0" bolt pattern.
