51 EAB Flathead Gas Leak
Stock Ford carb. on an EAB flathead. Can't tell exactly, appears to leak in or near the Accelerator pump. If so, is this an easy repair or should I have the carb rebuilt?
thank for your help. Last edited by Gezer; 05-06-2021 at 11:05 PM. Reason: data left out |

Re: 51 EAB Flathead Gas Leak
First thing I'd check is the float level, probably too high.

Re: 51 EAB Flathead Gas Leak
Thanks Ross F-1. I will check it out.
Can you confirm that the carb is correct for the engine? One side of the carb has "FORD" on it and the other side has "ECG" on it. 5 At first I thought the was a truck EAB engine but after seeing some more stats I think it could be a Merc?????? The oil pan seams to look like a Merc Thanks |

I don't believe ECG carbs were ever stock on trucks, I believe that is a later Car carb, but has greater flow so a real upgrade. It is the same basic carb, just "grown" in the throttle plates and venturis for Y-block engines' greater HP. It should have a Loadamatic port and a "spark valve" on the throttle section (looks like a power valve, but isn't).
