Default B Head Gasket

Does anyone know if a copper B head gasket will work with a stock Model A head? I have motors with high compression heads so I have B head gaskets in stock but current motor has a stock head which is in need of a new gasket.

Thanks, Steve

The Model B gasket is shaped for a smaller combustion chamber. Will it work, probably? Would I do it, NO. Lay the Model B gasket on top of the A head and compare. The gasket will overhang the combustion chamber and form a hot spot for detonation.

Good advice from Charlie, lay the gasket on the head and see if it fits. The B head has a smaller "waist" area between the valves and cylinder, so may stick out into the combustion chamber, causing a hot-spot.

Interesting..why then ?
would the Model B gasket be used on the Model A engine with a high compression head?

Most high compression heads have the same, or similar, combustion chamber footprint as the Model B head. Start laying those gaskets on the head.

I beg to differ with Charlie on this. Most older performance aftermarket heads, Winfield, Cyclone, Wieand, etc. used the A gasket. The wider passage between intake valve and cylinder made for better breathing.
