Question What is this manifold ?

Hello i have taken a few photos of a model a power plant that was used to run a saw blade it had wheels on it and a hitch to pull it around has a early clean out plate under the oil pump on the pan but has later radiator and shell and later trans top e-brake on the side i got it running after freeing up stuck valves can anyone shed some light on the intake manifold it has a date of 10/12/28 on one side and bat-pat on the other thanks for looking DSCN2483.jpg

What you are looking at is a

"BAT" Super-Charger
It is shown on page 80 of Those Wonderful UNATHORIZED ACCESSORIES for Model A Ford. Advertised to provide More Speed, More Power and Economy, Smooth All Around Performance.
Made by REX ACCSSSORIES PAT. Oct. 12, '26 , No. 1602390

The ad has a date on it of September 1930

I suppose it is the same principle as the early 60's Chrysler Cross Ram manifolds. The farther it (the mixture) travels, the more poke it gives...or something like that.

Default It is a "Bat" Super-Charger (photos)

This is one I saw in Cape Town, South Africa. It came off of an irrigation water pump driven by a Model A engine. The top manifold is a standard right-hand-drive intake manifold for comparison.

Before the BAT Super-Charger ID, I was thinking it was designed for agricultural use, running on kerosene or distillate, and was designed to better heat / vaporize low-grade fuels...

Did anyone see the two extensions on the head just behind the distributor? Anybody know what they were for? Extended head bolt maybe?

They appear to be "sleeve-nuts" or something similar... probably to mount an air-cleaner, fuel tank, or something similar pertaining to its stationary application...
