Default 29 Tudor bottom rubber door bumper question

I posted a similar question previously (https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239922) but I have another question.

I am trying to fit the bottom door bumper to the door, but it seems to stick out way past the door sheet metal.

Is that the way it is supposed to fit????

I have a 28 special coupe, which uses the same doors as 29 coupes. I took some picture of the bottom door area. I found out I forgot to install the bumper you have questions about. However, once you install the rubber bottom door seal and the door upholstery panel, I don't believe the bumpers will stick out much. I will have to find the 2 door bumpers I remember buying and install them. Your post made me notice the missing bumpers.

That’s the way the bumpers are on both my Tudor and my coupe. I just replaced the ones on the coupe, and had to do a lot of carving to make them fit. Rusty is right; when you get your upholstery on they won’t appear to stick out so far.

Did you glue them in place. I have worked on other A's and I have seen them falling out quite often.

I don’t remember what I did in the Tudor; that was 38 years ago. But for the coupe it was just a force fit.
