Default Model A Day at the Gilmore...Thanks Tim.

Howdy Folks,

After a 1,700 mile drive, it was an honor to see Tim Kelly and his Town Car collection. Each an extraordinary example of a Model A in one of its most beautiful forms. Though they were amazing to look at, the true beauty was the time, work and perseverance that it took to bring each car to that state and then assemble that collection.

Fifteen years ago Doc Kalinka invited me to breakfast and it was there that I met Tim for the first time. I remember Doc saying something about his dedication to the hobby. In the years since that meeting I have taken note of Tim's quiet efforts to assure that the Model A will be enjoyed by future generations.

So it was so fitting that on a beautifully sunny weekend, Model A'ers from many states were able to enjoy Tim's Town Cars at the equally amazing Model A Museum at the Gilmore. Thanks Tim for that and so many other great Model A memories.

The collection is as impressive and memorable as the man.

Was good to see you too Dean.

My wife and I weÂ’re traveling from Connecticut yesterday, so we missed Model A Day, but today we spent the entire day at the Gilmore Museum and it more than exceeded my expectations. The Model A Museum is fantastic and we did get to see some of Tim KellyÂ’s beautiful Town Cars before they were loaded back in their trailers. The Gilmore Museum is definitely a must see!

My first time to Model A day. Had a great time, met quite a few folks and picked up some parts. The Town cars were exceptional

Gotta try to make it one of these years. Almost 800 miles.. probably about a leisurely 3 day trip in the A.

I could not agree more with Dean's comments. Tim, I was amazed at the attention to details and quality of the restorations. Your presentation on your Town Car Collection Friday night was amazing. Thank you

I'm with foxfire42 (Barb?), did anyone record Tim's talk on Towncars?

I got home yesterday and saw that I had an e-mail from Sept. 14th that told about things that were going to happen during the Model A weekend. Well, it's on me. I didn't look into it earlier. I went to Gilmore to see Tim and his Towncars and sell a few parts.

Someone had said that Don Bivens was going to talk about A616. Now, all with all respect to Don, he and I have talked about our early cars many times. Someone also said that his talk was just for the people staying at the host hotel. Needless to say, I didn't go and found out later that Tim gave a talk.

Now I can kick myself from now 'til tomorrow (and tomorrow never comes) but that would do no good. Seeing a you-tube or such recording of Tim's talk would save me some pain. Did anyone record it?

Look for the cover story in the November/December issue of The Restorer for more photos of these Town Cars and Town Car Deliveries.
