Let's see your beloved pets with your flatheads. (Gotta show the flatheads or this thread might be deleted.)

Re: Pets and Flatheads
Seeing him on the package shelf reminded me that I always rode on the package shelf when I was a kid because there wasn't really all that much room in a car with our large family of 8 children, plus Mom & Dad. LOL Those were the days.

I'm not good at posting pictures, but our little Jack Russell goes everywhere with us. She's been twice to Auburn, once to Branson and been to every Western National meet since 2001. She's like a credit card, we don't leave home without her.

Not much. He sure doesn't know the meaning of "come" or "here." All he really knows is "goinout."

Re: Pets and Flatheads
I need to go through my picture files and see what i can come up with. My cat will always get into my vehicles and fall asleep on the seats. She loves to hang out with me when I'm working on my vehicles but can't seem to stay awake too long
I believe, as best I can remember, I rode in a package tray a few times myself. Now with the laws today, my grandkids must be all strapped into their little seats in such a way that riding in a package tray would be totally out of the question. Oh these times they are a changing

Re: Pets and Flatheads
I wondered what happen to the tread called "Barn Dogs". I was going to post some pictures of Jasper. I could not find it on the Barn. I went Hamb and could not find it. I thought I might have been having a vivid dream. Jasper is my avatar. He rides in the front seat in the 39 and sleeps all of the time. He must smell something when we get about 100 feet from the driveway because he sits up. He likes to give me a big neck licks when I am laying on the garage floor. He moans, groans and snores like an old man. He has lost about 30 pounds and now weighs about 190. We took him to Colorado State University because we thought he needed hip surgery. They evaluated him for a day. They reduced his seizure medication and said he needed to lose 30 pounds. They sure have good bed side manors at C.S.U. Dr Goo was the vet and she still calls to see how Jasper is doing the local vet calls her too. Jasper is 9.

My border collie in my avatar "MAX". He seems to know what a camera is and will wait till I'm done before he moves. He's a very clever dog, and goes everywhere with me.

I would probably prefer an eagle - i.e. "legal eagle."

I want to post on this Old Henry Thread since the mods killed my Ford Barn Dog Thread. I don't yet have a photo of my dogs with my Ford. That will have to change. My dogs love Early V-8 Fords.

Re: Pets and Flatheads
This is Timmy, my youngest of our three dogs (all pitt mix). He was born approximately 2 Jan 2011. He now weighs 75lbs. Last night I took him to the garage where I work on my 1937 Ford. It was a little too hot for Timmy so we broke off early.
Here he is asking when we can go home. TM Last edited by TonyM; 08-04-2012 at 04:09 PM. |

Re: Pets and Flatheads
It this pic thingy works, youse will be privileded to meet 'miss piggy' (aka..BELLA). She's older(dog years) than most cars shown on this site! She is overseeing that a youngster gets '36 ford brakes broke down properly. Oh yeah, she also eats any flies that bother me and/or her!
Last edited by hardtimes; 08-04-2012 at 01:53 PM. Reason: caveat: disregard pic date, piggy is camera challenged..she ate instructions! |

Old Henry, once again thanks for the post, listen Pepe is part of the whole mix, he's one of the main reasons your traveling experiences and stories are so great, half the time he has that expression on his face? Not again, will he ever stop.... picture after picture, what's he doing making a movie, he's no director, I didn't even want to go on this trip, but if I don't there will be nobody home to feed me or fluff my pillows..

Re: Pets and Flatheads
My wife and I are both dog lovers. Our last two dogs were Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Cub was the first and the smartest animal I have ever seen. I could teach him something and he would never forget it. He died at the age of 13. We had his son Bo until he was 14. They become one of the family and it is a great loss when they pass on. After we lost Bo about three years ago we swore we would not have another dog. Well guess what? I just mailed a check this morning for the deposit on another Chessie puppy. Jokingly I told my wife the chances are good he will outlive us, she saw no humor in that...
Then I saw this thread! Cub Bo

Here's my dog, Kitty. Gone but not forgotten. He gave a whole new meaning to the term, "Running with the big dogs!" when behind the wheel of the three window! He enjoyed helping in the shop, too. I still miss him.

In 1975, I drove my 1935 Cabriolet from Spencer, West Virginia to Washington, D.C. to the National V8 Club Meet, with my wife and two boys. For, at least, 95% of the trip, one boy was laying down in the package shelf. We went the scenic route, through the mountains, stopping at a few small town, "Mon & Pop" Ford dealers and found a good bit of NOS parts. As you say, "Those were the days". MIKE |

Re: Pets and Flatheads
Copied from an earlier story I wrote some months back.
Winnie the blue dog crashes vintage car. Well I was both proud and pleased with my restored 28 A model. It had been advertised in the Melbourne newspaper by a local farmer in our area. Had been a paddock basher until it wasn’t even any good for that. 2K was the asking price and whilst I couldn’t immediately put my hands on that money the farmer agreed he would keep it for me until I could come up with the money. There had been numerous enquiries from Melbourne which was 200 miles south. I had it well restored costing twice it’s market value but I was pleased. I had a dog, a blue healer cattle dog by the name of Winnie. Winnie had been my daughters dog. Given to her as a puppy which outgrew its cuteness when it grew into a proper size hound. It was left with us, her parents, on a temporary permanent basis. I have heard many stories about parents inheriting dogs from their kids. It’s our policy not to have dogs in the house or car. One exception is the Model A. Winnie would sit on the floor only and never miss an opportunity of going where ever it took her. One this particular day, with the car running and parked in our yard, with the drivers door open (it’s always been my policy to close car doors) Winnie was not going to miss this ride. Up she jumped and squeezed between the seat and the gearstick. The gear stick was pushed forward and almost without a crunch was in reverse. I saw this. The staff car chugging backwards and approaching a 3000 gallon fuel tank. Well the expected occurred. Crunch. I hadn’t made it back to the vehicle in time and here was the staff car held stationary with wheels rotating in the dirt. I climbed in. Winnie gave one of those dog smiles to display her pleasure. I gave her apat. How could I be pissed with something she did not intend and had no idea of my panic and 7 second 100 yard dash. Fortunately damage was minimal and the rear bumper bar had saved the day. She continued her chauffer driven rides and we still loved her.

Re: Pets and Flatheads
Somehow she does manage to keep herself pretty clean, but occasionally she comes in the house with a little black grease on her head or tail from walking under my old Fords. This was a stray cat that came to my neighbors house. He had already taken in 6 or 8 cats that were probably dropped off near his place. She really took a liking to me especially after I started feeding her. That was 8 to 10 years ago, and she quickly became a member of the family.☺

This is Nina with the 35 pickup, She loves to "G for an R" we speak in code around her to keep her from getting too excited. She hears the keys jingle & figures it out..
Boone the cat, has claimed anything sitting in the garage, He loves the Project cars I bring home,He checks them out when they're on the trailer, lots of good smells & a few mice.

Re: Pets and Flatheads
My wife and I take the dog on trips with us. We have an English Mastiff who is a bit over 200 pounds. He has travelled to every State except North Dakota and Hawaii with us and has been to a good bit of Canada from coast to coast as well. He turned 70000 miles travelling with us this past summer. He cannot get into my old pickups and it would leave no room for my wife (or me) if he did. When the time, energy, and money are all there at the same time, finishing my panel delivery will solve the problem.
