fuel pump stand pipe thing
How do I expalne this thing. The pipe that goes under the fuel pump stand about 2in. dia. has baffel plates, have 4 in. ones and 5 in. ones. I need a 4 in. one because I have a 37 aluminum intake and the rear is 1 in. shorter. I'm sure by now you guys have figured what I'm talking about. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks Walt

Re: fuel pump stand pipe thing
I think that Mac VanPelt mentioned he has them - hopefully he does. I call it a crankcase breather baffle - who knows it's real name!
I think back on all the flatheads I've torn apart (in the 37 - 48 vintage) - they rarely have these installed. I've pondered this recently and if you really look into how the crankcase breathing system works, it sure appears that this baffle is very important to help direct air down into the crankcase. Without it, it sure looks like the air will only move across the valley. I installed one in the 42 Merc engine in my 32 - first time I've ever used one! D |

Re: fuel pump stand pipe thing
The attached pictures show both the short and long oil baffle tubes that were used to help keep excessive amounts of oil from splashing up into the fuel pump mount/oil filler tube, and engine breather stand.

Re: fuel pump stand pipe thing
Yes, onto the manifold, there is a recess in the fuel pump stand for it.

I have a 5" one I can give you. It has 3 baffles in it and if you cut an inch off it would still have 2 baffles which may be OK? John |
