I use 600 or rear/trans lube for the clevis pins etc, sticks around longer then just motor oil. Might hit the oilers on the throttle assembly with a little WD-40 or penetrating fluid, not for lube but to clean the holes and shaft up a little then add oil.

Marvel Mystery oil or 'Three in One' oil first...then engine oil after a bit of use...Ernie in Arizona

I found that with this same issue that the fix was to slightly bend the tip of the ball that
the rod attaches to that goes to the throttle at the carb, back towards the slanted floor board.

On this subject, we all should have a redundant throttle return spring installed. Simple to do and a safe thing to have. all modern cars have them. Years ago, this was a big safety issue.
