Help - 28 Sport Coupe Windshield
How do I disassemble and install new windshield glass ? The frame is removed from the vehicle and is on my work bench. It is real solid - I cant move (separate) any of the frame, sides top or bottom. There is two small #6 x 32 short screws - removed on each side. Nothing else holding except the gasket...???? Ideas - guidance

Look for two more screws. Use a block of wood and hammer and have at it.

A total of sixe screws (3 per side) at the top must be removed, then carefully use a 2x4 and hammer to remove the top part of the frame

Yes - I had to drill the two screws (one each side) trim the edges with a small chisel and hammer away. I did get top piece off. I’ll work on the rest tomorrow. Continue disassembling and figure the gasket situation and reassembling.

You can use glass setting tape if you can find it. Go to a glass shop and ask for the black sticky stuff used in windshields and back glass. I forgot what they call it but they will have partial rolls laying around. Do some dry runs to figure out how to keep the glass centered. When done you will have a better job without leaks.

As long as the caulking doesn't have a bad reaction with the steel, it will work. A person has to keep in mind that someone may want to take it apart again some day. Glass setting tape comes in various thicknesses so a person has to get something that will fit just right. Not too loose and not too tight.

Used solex tint in a metric dimension, its stronger than 1/4" and gives a 30%reduction in UV..its like an old coke bottle tint. Set it in windshield urethane sealer, designed for easy removal if you have an issue.
