Large axle nuts
I have only used the larger axle nuts in the past and most of the rodders back in the day in LA area used them as well. Common auto parts store item in the early 1960's. Uses 1 1/4" socket
I have only the two left that I am using on my 32 project. Are there any available. Have not seen them lately |

Re: Large axle nuts
And, of course, for anything like this, you should try Fred at "Southside Obsolete" ("barnfind08" on here).

Re: Large axle nuts
If you are seeking the large nut on the end of the axle, C&G has them.800/266-0470. Part number 1155A, $1.75. Also order the special washer that goes under the nut. Number 351505-S8. Fifty cents. It is a special thick washer and must be under he axle nut.

Re: Large axle nuts
You may be missing the hard washer under the nut and the gasket under the washer. Barnfind08 did have the nuts.

Re: Large axle nuts
Terry, it's good to know he had the nuts; does he have the washers and gaskets too?

Re: Large axle nuts
I didn't know there should be a gasket under the washer. I think I see it in the 1937 Chassis Parts List, but it is not identified with a part number. What type of material is it made of?

Re: Large axle nuts
Those hard fiber washer's or gaskets also come in the Best Gasket sets sold for banjo rears. Third Gen Automotive sells the gasket sets, not sure if they sell the washers/gaskets separately.
Plus, make sure the steel washers that go between fiber washer and nut are definitely there, and of the proper hardness, or your torque readings for the axel nut may not be accurate.
