Default Texas Inspection Sticker Placement - 1962 ?

I have a reproduction safety sticker for 1962. My question is - when did Texas switch from the passenger side placement to the driver's side ? I think it was sometime in the 60s - but not sure of the year.

Thanks !

With all due respect, I don't think so. I have lived in Texas all my life and I remember them on the passenger's side in the 50's and into the 60's. I don't remember exactly when they changed but I think it was in the '68-'72 timeframe.

I found this online:

http://www.pinetreeinspections.com/19701.html

The 61st Legislature in 1969 made numerous changes in the Vehicle Inspection Act. This was passed as Senate Bill 7. It added, as additional items of inspection, the exhaust system and the exhaust emission system. The location of the inspection certificate was moved from the lower right-hand corner of the windshield to the lower left-hand corner of the windshield. The fixed deadline of inspection was changed to permit a year-round or staggered system of inspection, whereby the inspection certificate expires 12 months from the date of issue. The inspection fee was raised to $2.00.

I lived in Dallas and started driving in 1966. All the vehicles I remember had the inspection sticker on the passenger side until they started having month numbers on them. Then they moved to the drivers side. I guess maybe the first one who can produce a picture wins....huh. Have a nice day. Randy

Back in 65 I was stationed at Dyess AFB ib Abiline texas ,drivin my 56 fairlane north towards Oklahoma going back home to Missouri on leave ,a Hy patrol cop, passed me going the other way ,he turrened arround and stopped me for a invalid sticker,on pass side of car. His partner walked up to pass side and conformed it was bad.
I told them I was on leave and going home out of state, they said OK but escorted me to next town to a inpection station and waited till I got it inspected. the station put it on pass side, some were I got a pict of pass side of car. I will have to look for them then figgure how to do this magic computer stuff!!!

Sounds like they were put on either side by different places. Guess you would need an old state document that states which side it was supposed to go on to settle the argument.
