Default Model A Ford Oil Pump Shield

Going to get my engine rebuilt. What's the story on this Oil Pump Shield? Should I get one and install it since I'm redoing the engine? How does it work? Anyone have a picture of it installed down in the oil pan? Does the dip tray need to be modified?

Yes;
“Under no circumstances install an oil shield without installing the new oil pan or vice versa”.

“The oil pan tray (A-6688) has also been lowered 1/8”. This has been accomplished by correspondingly raising the height of the bead in the oil pan tray”.

So trim 1/8 off the bottom of the shield?

Call Bert's in Denver...They will more than likely have an original that you can use...Both the tray and the shield. Study the Ford Service Bulletin pertaining to the shield and the tray.

HOWEVER...I believe it must be installed with the oil pump that has the bolt-on cover.
