Exclamation duals/neutral saf switch

Putting dual exhausts on 54 merc and need to move the neutral safety switch up to clear the stock dual exhaust manifold. Must have been a stock bracket for it but can't find one.
Any ideas

My '55 Ford has factory dual exhaust, Ford-o-matic with the starter neutral switch, all factory. You shouldn't need to move anything. The neutral switch hangs off a bracket mounted at the base of the steering column on the opposite side of where the exhaust passes thru.

Thks for the comeback. My NS switch sits between the column and exhaust manifold so is a problem. Maybe Merc and Ford are diff. Looks like a complicated fabrication job
coming up.

Evidently dual exhaust weren't a factory option on '54 Mercury's, or the safety switch wouldn't be in the way. I thought duals were optional, but never verified it.

In 1954 only the Ford 256 Police Interceptor which used a Mercury Y-block had dual exhaust. There is a picture of it in this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-195...ea4363&vxp=mtr I have had guys in my 1952-59 Ford Group deal with the same issue you have because you probably have 1955-57 manifolds so you need a 55-56 bracket and switch.Best bet is here: www.owenssalvage.com

You would think the Mercury would have dual exhausts standard since it also had the same 256 engine, but no. Plus the Mercury was a more upscale and expensive car. Doesn't make sense to me.

Jeff, thks for the links, I'll check them out asap. Don't need this until I get it out of the body shop after a sideswipe deal. Glad the other guy paid his insurance.
