All metal 28-30 CCPU front visor...
Has anyone ever seen an all metal 28-30 Closed Cab Pickup front visor?
I have seen one and it most surly was not made in some farmers back yard metal fabrication shop as it was very well made. It resembles the actual cloth-covered visor except it is metal. Hopefully I can post some photos. Pluck Last edited by Steve Plucker; 01-23-2012 at 12:58 PM. |

Pluck,
I personally have never seen a all metal visor for 28-30 CCP, however, that doesn't mean one did not exist. About the time one makes a positive statement it usually comes back and bites you !!!!! Would love to see a picture. Ron |

Re: All metal 28-30 CCPU front visor...
I don't know about the visors, but I have seen ads for a galvanized metal roof for the 28-30 closed cab. They had a peak in the rear center. The ad was either Sears,Monkey Wards,Western Auto,or Whitney,it was one of the cheapo aftermarket vendors back in the day. There is a truck here in town that has a galvanized roof on it,we thought it was homemade, but looking close it looks to either have been made by a ductwork fabricator,or one of the aftermarket people back in the day.It has the peak in the back like the ads show. The workmanship looks too good to be home brew too.The visor is just a piece of galvanized screwed onto the original framework. That could be home made or part of the kit.

Re: All metal 28-30 CCPU front visor...
I have one on my 29 CCPU. It was one of the parts when I bought the truck almost 30 years ago. Long story, I bought my truck as disassembled and carefully brought the parts home and to a storage place so as not to tip off my wife. She eventually suspected something was going on because of my many trips in the evening. After she found out and the last few pieces were the front fenders. They spent about a year in the living room.

That looks like a '30/'31 car visor.

Re: All metal 28-30 CCPU front visor...
Could be, it has always been on it, not sure who put the metal roof on it either. The truck was my Dads before and he may have put it on, I probably have other mixed parts also. He was a "collector" of things. It is in about 20 pieces now, just got the frame back from sandblasting yesterday and primed it before the moisture got to it. (we had rain here in az) Will paint it Black today and reconnect the front and rear ends. Hoping to have it driveable by Easter.
