Re: Naming vehicles.
I don't have a pic to post but my 31 Tudor is Norah D. Norah jones was playing on the radio when I was trailing her home and D is for Dillenger. I wanted names that sounded era correct. Most my family normally calls it Old Stanley from the movie Cars even though that ones a T.

Re: Naming vehicles.
First post for me since I'm obviously more of a reader than a poster but this one cracked me up. I get a lot of kidding for naming my vehicles.
'31 CCPU is named Murphy - if anything can go wrong, it will. '30 Fordor is still looking for a name but Bertha is high on the list. My current modern vehicles all have names as well - Rhonda the Honda, Gumby, Pee Wee and The White Rhino. I have also had vehicles named Rusty, Black Lightning, Blue Screamer and Yellow Screamer. |

Re: Naming vehicles.
I like that, lol, it is too true, I blew up the engine in my 58 Chevy in 2004, then getting married and having kids kept me busy for a while, lol, now I think it is going to come out of mothballs again this summer.

Re: Naming vehicles.
Pat & I searched for a name for the Black Coupe & I saw MINERVA in her family tree & it was PERFECT! In Roman Mythology, Minerva was the GODESS OF WISDOM & WAR!
I had 5 extra MINERVA stickers, SO, I tried to make up names, by cuttin' up the stickers----VERMIN was PERFECT, cuz BUSTER T. is a gung ho RAT TERRIER! We made up a "story" of a WHITE RAT that lives in the car, Gregg even put WHITE RICE on the BLACK rumble seat carpet, to simulate WHITE RAT POOP. Bill W.

I also name all my modern vehicles, I guess to Me my vehicles are kind of a part of the family, especially the classic vehicles. This picture is of our 65 Chevy, Old Carl, the original owner was named Carl and he was a commercial fishermen on the Mississippi river, to this day there are still metal tags from his turtles traps with his name on them in the glove box.

Re: Naming vehicles.
My Deluxe Coupe was named "Suzanne" by the original lady that purchased it new in 31. It was on the back of the original pictures, so we are keeping the same name.

Re: Naming vehicles.
I named my barn find original '30 Tudor, Jewely, cuz its such a jewel. My other car, a '29 Tudor, is Lily. I believe that the car will tell you subconsciously what its name is if you become in tune with it enough. I think Lily was the school teacher who owned my car originally in Kansas.
One of my buddies gave his car a name and it kept breaking down. When he changed the name it has behaved ever since...true story. Trucks are tougher to name cuz they're so utilitarian. Even brand new they had lots of drivers and owners. Any history on yours? Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll tell you his name if you listen closely. |

Re: Naming vehicles.
I do not name my cars, but did name some motorcycles back in the day: Shasta B. Pusht was the 500cc Velocette track bike which had no kick start and had to be push started; Ichabod was a 1932 Rudge drag bike from which the glory had departed.

Re: Naming vehicles.
My 1929 Tudor is was named Puddles, I used to drive thru every puddle I saw and
It used to leave one every where I went until I rebuilt the motor. My Mom named our 1915 T Touring "Minkie" because my Father bought the car and she didn't get her Mink coat. A friend of mine name his Model T Speedster "Nas-T", his depot "Wood-T" and his 1919 Touring "Miss-T" Another friend of mine has his Dad's and Uncles Model A Coupe named Henrietta |

Re: Naming vehicles.
I do know a woman who was named after a car.Her dad was in love with the new Ford Crown Vics,he scraped together his pennies, got some extra work, and in less than a year he had enough to pay for a good portion of it.Then her mother came up pregnant with her. There went the new Crown Vic money. He named her Victoria.Whenever she came home he would say, here's my little Victoria 56.Or,he would point out to his friends, there's my 56 Victoria.
