Default '40 coupe qtr measurement needed...

...putting qtr panel patch panels on my coupe. The panels appear to be too short, and if the panels are short it would change the location of the rear fenders, in turn affecting the running boards, in turn affecting the front sheet metal.

Can anyone provide this measurement from an original car?

Picture attached (you can see where I've had to split the top of the panel to make it fit, do I need to split the bottom too?)

Around 23 1/2" on 2 of my '39 coupes ( same body as a '40 )
I have a new Bob Drake replacement panel that also measures 23 1/2".

My experience with their stuff has not been good. It is "okay" at best. I have yet to get a piece from them that did not require modification, some a lot more than others.
Rest assured, I use them as a very last resort and only when authenticity is not paramount.

Did you contact EMS? It would be interesting to know what they had to say beings how they offered.
