Default 8 digit serial number

I have a 40 with a title that has an 8 digit serial no. My dad had the car put in his name in '62 when I bought the car because I was 15 and I still have that title . The thing I just noticed is that it shows the model as 022A and it has 8 digits in serial. Could this be correct for a 60 hp model only or a BMV typo? There is no 18 prefix on the frame and I can't see the 8th digit; actually they are all pretty hard to see. I looked in the EFV8 40 book and couldn't answer the question.

Eureka! I may have solved my dilema. I found an old related post that led to Mac VPs site and the chart on serial numbers. I realized that the V8 60 had a 54 prefix followed by a 6 digit serial no. If this is not correct, someone please respond.
