One of my all time favorite V-8 Fords on film is this awesome 1928-1929 Model A/V-8 Hot Rod from The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). The car is only in the movie for an instant at the beginning.

Check out the Flathead engine with the hi-rise twin-carb manifold. Wow. This is a 1946 movie, so this is a real early iron hot rod from the forties. I wonder what happened to this one. The windshield posts look to be cut down. Also, looks like it has Phaeton doors with no door handles. What a cool early hot rod. Wish there was more to see.

1932 Ford Phaeton

I watched this one today just to see this Ford I had almost forgot about. At first you want to think, "What a heap." But they make the car look worse than what it is. Body looks pretty straight. No hood sides allows the veiwer to see the flathead. Appears to be the only car in town in this movie. It is in a lot of scenes. And Judy Garland actually drives it in many of the scenes. And when it is sitting still, she can be seen gently and probably unconsciously moving the stick shift side to side to prove to herself the idling car was in neutral while she said her lines.

1937 Ford Phaeton

In Blondie Takes a Vacation (1939), a really beautiful 1937 Ford Phaeton makes a brief appearance. Car has fender skirts and spyder caps. Looks great.

I think they use two 1934 Fordors--one they drive like crazy and the other is the one that is wrecked. There is a very funny driving scene at end where the Ford is really put through a lot. Filmed on location on Southern California streets, there are a lot of old cars in this ending "chase" sequence.

Tony , Thanks again as I now have it and if you look close they have at least 4 cars for this scene - deluxe and standard . The one that is lifted up by the fire truck { check out the suspension } and the one that is spun off in the circling scene are props - look at what happens to it as it leaves the boom and disappears behind the wall . It basicially implodes . Got a kick outta this and it only cost me $5.00 . Most of the interior shots aren't the 33 but oh well . Most of these look to be 33's to me . There is a 34 5w parked just before the bridge in one scene . Anyone know what the name of the movie is where laurel and hardy trash a 36 roadster ?

Tony , The squad car WC runs the 33 std 4d into is a 36 4d flatback that is shown a number of times and there are glimpses of others in the amped up scenes . This has got to be one of the best model 40 movies I have ever watched - Hot rod otis from andy griffith is very good also . Keep up the good work !!!!!

I don't know of the movie where Laurel & Hardy trash a 1936 roadster, but I have a still of them by a trashed 1935 Cabriolet. It looks like they ran a brand new cabriolet through a garage wall. I don't know what movie that is from either.

Thanks Mike , If someone knows the titles to these I will find them . This movie thing is pretty entertaining PS I have a home in New Smyrna Beach . Next door !!!!!! Sad part is I only get to spend about 2 months there a year

Since Esther Williams' body was not modified for this movie and the woody's body was, it is my opinion that Esther has the better body in The Pagan Love Song (1950).

In my early days of working at MGM Studio that Deuce was still there. It was used is several of the Mickey Rooney Andy Hardy films. I bagged the radiator cap for a friend who had a Deuce. A couple years later it was sold at the infamous MGM auction.

I'll try to find a copy of "BLOCKHEADS". I know that the car in my still is a '35 Cabriolet, as I own one. Perhaps, they made this still at a different time and place and could not find a '36 roadster.
I'll post a picture, later, as my still is not here. I have a bunch of them with "T" Models. I'll post them too, over in the "T" section.
